Normally I do not download DJ E-V’s mixtapes. Not because I don’t like him or anything like that. It’s just because Hip Hop kinda fell out of my spectrum this year and I have been having trouble bringing it back… EV’s new mix helped me recently hear some more hip hop from this year. This year was an alright year for hip hop in my eyes. Blueprint 3 of course was amazing and was the best hip-hop album of the year in my ears. But it still doesn’t even come close to his old stuff (i.e. The Blueprint). Besides that, all that I heard that was worth hearing was Raekwon’s new album, which is decent. And also Mos Def and Black Roc. But I honestly didn’t listen to much… Maybe the reason is because I just didn’t pay attention to it all and was too focused on all the WOMP and GRIME… But in any case, DJ E-V’s new mixtape called, I Run Ohio Pt. 2 is definitely gonna be on my top plays this year. Many of his hardcore fans and listeners were turned away at first by it because it is all 128 bpms, which is a bit faster than normal 90 bpm hip-hop. But as you know, that is my shit right now so I am diggin’ it… There’s my two cents. Here’s the mix. Download above!
