Extraordinary things always happen when unexpected. During the 18 months the Grammy-nominated French duo Justice spent touring following the release of their monumental debut LP “†”, “extraordinary” didn’t necessarily mean “amazing”, or “great”, (though it sometimes did) but “surreal”, “weird”, “horrendous”, “fascinating”, or “paranormal”, etc. To cut a long story short, it means that without anyone to film you twenty-four/seven, no one will believe or get the essence of every moment you’d like to tell them about.
So as Justice were about to tour the USA for the second time, multi-award winning directors and intimate friends of the band, Romain Gavras (“Stress” director) and So-Me (“D.A.N.C.E.”, “DVNO”) taped every second of that 3 week tour that looks like it lasted 3 years. This documentary ain’t about how cool Justice’s live show is (the bonus CD is here for that), but is all about the extraordinary things that can happen when a bunch of frogs gets dropped in dreamy America.
This live CD + DVD release will include recordings of Justice’s signature headbanging live sets along with show footage and various hijinks captured as the band toured the US in March 2008. Screenings of the film will be held in each city around the DJ sets late October.
found a lot of these off The Lowdown from BillK and others and also found some on my own. Some really good glitch hop / hip-hop / instrumental hip-hop / electronica:

This promo mixset is a sampler of the slower stuff I like to play as Tao Jones. It’s basically a condensed version fo the hour and a half to two hours I normally play. It starts off all chunky and hiphop, gets glitchy, rages it, catches it’s breath, and then get’s all wobbly in the low end. The last track I probably wouldn’t play at an event unless it was really appropriate, but it’s one of my favourite songs ever so I thought I’d share it with you.

Thank you for downloading “Filling Up The City Skies”
release date 10/31/2008
written, produced, arranged, mixed, & mastered by Derek Vincent Smith
“Filling Up The City Skies” is a collection of songs arranged in two sections, each about the maximum length of one blank cd(80 minutes).
The first disc contains 14 organic downtempo songs.. not that they’re all slow, but they do have a common style throughout them. Also, every song on the first disc contains a vocal sample which I chose and arranged in an attempt to tell a story about myself, my life, and the world in which I live. The vocal samples are typed out below in case you find them difficult to understand in the music.
The second disc contains 12 songs that are, stylistically, along the lines of what I have been playing at Pretty Lights shows for the last 10 months. They are for the most part more upbeat and high energy production, but still maintain a very organic element. They range from hip-hop to two-step to house and tend to get faster as the disc progresses..except for the last song which is a remix of “Finally Moving” from the first Pretty Lights album “Taking Up Your Precious Time”.
I sincerely hope that you enjoy the songs on “Filling Up The City Skies” I have worked very hard on them and have chosen to give the music away for free to anyone who wants it. I appreciate very much if anyone who is able, chooses to make a donation, but by no means is it pressured or even suggested. All I ask is that you come to Pretty Lights shows when I’m in your area, come say what up, and maybe bum me a light, I’m always losing my lighter at shows. oh… and tell your friends, so they can download it too.
PS… I plan on dropping new EP’s rather consistently from this point on.. so check back on prettylightsmusic.com often:)
If you guys missed this last time I posted it then get it now while its hot. I don’t know how long this link will stay active for so get it fast! Here it is:

It´s almost a year since Justice released their superb debut album † and now a upcoming brooklyn rapper called Webbafied have done a mash up of the entire † album! Check it out! and also don´t miss the Justice DJ set in Stockholm on Wednesday May 28th at Sturecompaniet!
Download everything below! and keep watching for an update for my favorite set from DJ Roots with Kaptain Harris from Lowpro Lounge, called “No Bammer Shit”. It will be up soon.
Curiosity, the will to innovate, and a great deal of research are the hallmarks of the work by Paulo Braga, also known as DJ Roots. In 2001, Roots began a DJ course at the Pragatecno - an electronic music organization founded in 1998 located in northeastern Brazil. There, he developed a DJing style that highlights jazzy, funky, and soulful sounds while still integrating the scope of drum & bass.
Since then, Roots has been a staff member at Pragatecno as well as an integral force in the development of Bahias junglist movement - establishing monthly events such as DB and the D-Breaks. Currently, DJ Roots is at the helm of BOOH!, the first organization solely dedicated to building and promoting the Bahia drum and bass scene.
At the dawn of 2005, he was invited by internationally acclaimed Brazilian musician Fernanda Porto to produce remixes for her performance at the Carnival de Salvador, an event promoting her most recent album, Giramundo. Also in 2005, Roots partnered with Rafael Ponde to produce a drum and bass remix of Sorriso de Flor. Marky and XRS chose this track to be part of the inaugural release on their label, Innerground Records.
Breakbot is a French producer associated with the current wave of french electro artists (Justice, Ed Banger, Institubes etc…) . Don’t know too much about him but his shit is really good. With just the right amount of noise/distortion and funked out bass lines he seems to have this sound perfected. I also like the fact that his music is interesting from start to finish with many different parts, progressions and melodies weaving in and out, not just relying on one four bar loop for the entire song.
