The New Deal

BIO:
Founded in 1998 by three longtime members of the Toronto music scene, the New Deal fused electronic music with live improvisation at a time when parallel developments were occurring elsewhere on the continent. Through relentless touring, the band quickly built a strong following among jam band fans, rave kids, and fellow musicians.
Each member of the New Deal has roots in the Canadian jazz scene. Keyboardist Jamie Shields came from the horn-infused One Step Beyond while drummer and beatboxer Darren Shearer migrated from Gypsy Sol and bassist Dan Kurtz from Que Vida! Quickly, the band earned a following in their native Toronto, accidentally cutting their self-released first album, This Is Live, at their very first gig at a local club.
In the summer of 1999, the band headed south to the wild pastures of the United States, where — before their first States-side audiences — they won far larger crowds than they were expecting at both the Berkshire Music Festival in Massachusetts and the famed Wetlands Preserve in New York City. The band swiftly earned a wide fan base and were accepted and assimilated into the burgeoning Northeastern jam band scene. They made a home at the Wetlands where, through frequent visits, they packed the room.
The band’s music, an organic mix of house rhythms, burbling synthesizers, and melodically repetitive bass parts, is almost entirely improvised, though many songs have crystallized from jam sessions and worked their way into the band’s repertoire. Two EPs, recorded in December 1999 and April 2000, respectively, captured the broadening of the band’s sound from ambient textures to wildly varied dance music.
In addition to sonic experimentation, the band also offers a successful model of alternative management, splitting the duties of administration between the three band members, each of whom deal with a specified area of the band’s operations. Along with This Is Live, The New Deal’s two EPs were released on the band-owned and -operated Sound and Light Records, and are distributed internationally through various outlets. By mid-summer 2000, their star power continued to rise just as the Receiver EP was ready for release. Jesse Jarnow, All Music Guide

So I just ran across this.I haven’t listened to it yet but I have a good feeling about it. Let me now what you think when you hear it and I will let you guys know if i like it too (If this post is gone in a day or two, then i didn’t like it). The blog I found it off of had a very good description so I’m just gonna use his/hers.
Metronomy - Nights Out
Ah yes, finally Metronomy’s sophomore album. Definitely more commercial than their last album, “Nights Out” gives you pulsating music you can dance to. The “Nights Intro” is broken down, I love it, but it’s just an intro. “The End Of You Too” is awesome, it’s a homage to their previous work. It’s a sort of cut and paste track, but it works. “Radio Ladio” was the first single to be taken off the album. The keyboards are amazing in the track, the rap at the end is cute, very catchy. “My Heart Rate Rapid” was the second single to be taken from the album. It’s bouncy and off the wall kind of track, really nice. “Heartbreaker” is amazing, the beats are sick. “On The Motorway” and “Side 2″ are like an intermission, you can tell the albums sound will change into something more. “Holiday” is my favorite, it’s probably because it’s heavily disco influenced, but on crack of course. “A Thing For Me” starts off really cute, then the beat kicks in and you know it’s a wrap from there on. “Back On The Motorway” starts off really broken, but morphs to this pulsating track. “On Dancefloors” takes the album down a notch, it’s just one of those tracks you can’t help but feel through your body. The “Nights Outro” ends the album just as it began, strung out and broken, perfectly ending the fast paced and upbeat album. I can’t get enough of “Holiday”. “Nights Out” hits stores September 8th, be sure to get it.
